The deer uses five senses to detect everything in their live. 1. Ears- Allow all deer to hear. 2. Eyes- All deer are colored blind which allows them to see in just black and white but don't let that fool you. Deer have a pristine eye sight and they can see you a ways away. 3. Smell- Deer often travel walking into the wind so they can smell what is coming. This allows them to escape before they are even detected by the predator. This also lets deer smell one another which is crucial for bucks during the rut to smell a doe, or a dominant buck. 4.Taste- A factor all deer have to taste food sources, the deer bases what kinds of food they like by taste. 5. Touch- Deer have a gland called the inter-digital gland that is located between the hooves of both the front and rear legs. Bucks use these to produce scent other deer smell when making a scrape. Hooves are much like a dogs pad they are squishy like this allows them to feel what they are touching when moving across the land.
